I could get fired for being sick.

Last night I spent a few hours in constant pain and must have vomited at least 5 times. Unfortunately, I had a shift the next morning at a grocery store, but I knew I wasn’t gonna be well enough to show up. Well, my manager left a note out prior to this saying that no one can contact her to take days off last minute, including sick days, and would instead have to request time off in advance. The funny thing is that we are extremely over staffed and scheduling too many people at once, so how could it be that big of a deal? I sent my manager the last minute message anyways, because what else was I supposed to do? She hasn’t read or responded to the message… It’s against policy to go to work when you’ve vomited in the past 24 hours, so can I really get…

One of my coworkers got fired a couple of weeks ago because the manager made him have a panic attack that forced him to miss a lot of his shift. Clearly they’re strict on this.

I can’t believe this is even legal. Every job I’ve ever had has been like this.
