So, my throwaway account to limit hurt feelings.
I had myself an office drone job. I spent my days using different software to do design work for construction. I have a trade background, plenty of years on the tools that gavee piles of practical knowledge that made it easy for me to design. Went back to school to get an office job and save my body some abuse. My reviews were nothing but amazing. I brought up inflation at my annual review, my boss told me that the annual books were done soon, and my raise was coming. Less than 3%.
So I brushed up the resume, and reposted it to the job sites. I applied to a few roles, but got contacted by a company that I didn't think that I would qualify for. The interview went great, and the interviewer said that they have a strong belief in training, and felt I was worth the investment.
I hand in my resignation today (Giving notice. They are nice people other than the money, and I know I carry a fair amount of the workload) and in two weeks, I start in a new role with a 20% pay increase, a couple more days of vacation a year, and the potential of some international travel for projects and training!
Couldn't be more thrilled to be found by a company that wants to take care of their people in these tougher times.
