A couple of months ago, I was working at a toxic advertising start-up. Multiple people were quitting/getting fired each week, and I decided I wanted to get out of there too. I gave my 2 week notice to my supervisor, in writing and verbally. He told the CEO, and within the hour, my supervisor came back to me and told me that the CEO decided that my last day was the very next day and that I wouldn't be allowed to carry out my two weeks. I just wanted to gtfo at that point and abided by the CEO's decision and had my last day the following day. A few months of interacting with this sub, and I'm wondering about my rights as an employee. Was I technically fired since my employer told me I wasn't allowed to finish my last day? And would I be allowed to collect unemployment?
