I created this account just for this post because my actual account has my name in it and I don't want someone I know to see it.
I've been working at this place for almost 5 years and my GM and HR manager (who for some reason has as much authority as the GM) are pretty disrespectful towards me. Things like when he (GM) comes by he says hello to everyone except me, they both ignore my emails at times even when it's things that I need to know or they need to be aware of.
A few weeks ago they were doing construction in the unit besides us which is the wall just behind me, the GM was there talking to another coworker and he came by my desk for something and in passing said “man that tapping would drive me crazy”, then when I started saying something about it he just said “that's crazy” and walked away, didn't hear me out or even made eye contact. Didn't say like “there's desks on the other side of the building you can use” or “maybe work from home till they're done next door” (we're 100% capable of doing the same work from home as we are from the office).
A few weeks ago also I went to talk to the HR manager to tell her I was interested in a position in a different department, she said a “ok let me email the people from that department”, nothing ever came of it, and when I followed up she just said like “oh yeah I'll let you know”.
Just today, 2 of the people in my department emailed that they weren't feeling well so they were taking the day off, both the GM and HR replied with like “oh no! I hope you feel better! Drink some water and take care of yourself!”. I wasn't feeling well myself because I came back from a really long trip yesterday and woke up with a really bad headache so I also emailed them saying I would take some rest and if I felt better I would start working… neither of them replied.
There's more examples of how disrespectful they are and really the only reason why I think they single me out is because I've spoken up when there have been unfair decisions or bad ideas from management when none of my other coworkers speak up, they just complain about it in hushed tones.
I'm always respectful and polite towards them so it's really insulting when you're bosses don't treat you with respect.
I want to move on and find somewhere with a better work environment but I make pretty good money considering my position and I'm worried I won't find something else at that range, life is expensive and taking a pay cut will definitely hurt me.
I'll be doing some job hunting and hopefully something comes up soon because for the sake of my mental health I need to move on.
