I feel like a lot of “just got a new job” posts on here are hopium.

Let me be specific that I'm talking about these story posts where people were mistreated at some (usually white collar, professional job) where they work very hard but aren't respected or compensated fairly, and they're lucky enough to stumble on a similar job with less work, more pay, with perks like working fully remote, without any sort of additional certifications or education. I'm in the job market right now and that just isn't the reality. Business owners, even the ones you don't work with, are still stingy with any type of remote work, constantly stating that, for that to be a possibility, you would need to work in the office “until you're trained” (for a job you're probably fully trained with) for at least a couple months. Pay is pretty stagnant unless you're willing to commute pretty far or even relocate (and good luck with that in this tent market).…

Business owners, even the ones you don't work with, are still stingy with any type of remote work, constantly stating that, for that to be a possibility, you would need to work in the office “until you're trained” (for a job you're probably fully trained with) for at least a couple months. Food and gas is exploding in price so any type of stagnant income is a liability, and you risk a lot changing jobs.

Most of these are pretty vague, not even mentioning the types of industries these people work with, just vague references to office work and, sometimes, “project management” which is probably the vaguest office title to ever exist (every industry has project managers).

Just something to keep in mind while reading online posts.
