There's so much I could say but basically my job had me coming in 40-50 hours per week as a “part time contractor” which really means that they were giving me no benefits and making it so that I cannot have a second job but also they won't be liable if I suddenly don't work at all. I had been doing my absolute best there, really can't think of anything I was doing wrong. Multiple people had even commented on what a great job I'd been doing.
Then suddenly, soon after hiring someone new in my position, that person is getting all the hours I used to get and she even started with a higher rate. I have some big bills I will not be able to afford next week. I genuinely don't understand why they're doing this. And if I ask, I know they'll chastise me saying they made it clear this job is part time.
There's one coworker I've had conversations with before about this stuff and seems to be on the same page, but when I asked if this is normal he said it is and to not worry. The new person and I have also talked about this and I know we have the same concerns but again she didn't care and was almost rude about it. Another coworker texted me today making sure I still even work there, I said yes supposedly but get no hours, and he said it's good news I'm still there. I wish at least one person would like…pretend to care? Maybe they don't because they are working?
There's no real point to this post besides that I'm just very frustrated with the whole situation and worried about now being totally broke for seemingly no reason.
