Look, I did my best. I gave my boss over a month of notice back in June that I was moving and we needed to hire someone asap in order to avoid disaster.
Did he do anything? Has anyone been hired yet? Of course not. July is the month he likes to take vacations, so that was his focus instead of the well-being of his department and everyone in it. He sees no issue in putting the burden of my departure on my coworkers who already work 50+ hour weeks regularly (sometimes more). Y'all, everyone in that department is over capacity and he doesn't give a shit. I almost stayed because of how bad I felt for my coworkers, but I let myself leave and I've never felt better. I'm fucking FREE.
The good news is, his handling of this situation has pissed everyone off to the point that one of my coworkers has already contacted me asking if I would be a reference on their job applications. Y'all, if she leaves, they're going to lose 30-ish years of expert knowledge!!!! I can't wait for her to quit. My departure is a burden, but her departure will be devastating. Cross your fingers and please send some good luck out into the universe so that she can find a new job right away!
