Found out this sub a few days ago. And I guess my story fits here.
So I posted this story a month ago seeking for advice if I should quit. (TLDR: 1) My supervisor is toxic, irrational, emotionally unstable and egoistic. 2) And she'd always cause me to get scolded by the CEO because she messed up the work and the CEO assumed it was me who did it. 3) The top management is extremely poor at communications and running a business as a whole. Conflicts often arise due to miscommunications and they wouldn't bother spending some time to sit down and discuss the matter. Instead, they'd rather blame their subordinates.)
But what I didn't mention in my story was that the emotional distress caused by my workplace has affected my mood even after work. I'd always think about what happened at my workplace and get really down. And I've had one of two nightmares as well which never occurred in my previous jobs. And sometimes, I'd have uncontrollable fast breathing and heartbeat (idk what it's called) whenever I think about work. Because of all these problems, I had to seek a counsellor.
At first, I didn't want to quit because I don't want to become that guy who runs away from problems. But then, after spending some time thinking about it, I figured it wasn't worth my mental health just to hold onto my principle. So on the 18th of February, I submitted this resignation letter. I also called out my boss for all the emotional damage she has done to me. I also told her that many people already didn't like her because of her egoistic attitude. She didn't believe the things I told her and still thought she never did anything wrong. But that's already what I expected from her, so I couldn't care less. By calling her out, I've achieved my purpose, and that is to voice out all of my thoughts and feelings. I don't need her apology or explanation.
And guess what? From that day onwards, I could finally sleep peacefully, no more racing heartbeat and breathing. My general sense of well-being has also improved. But I'm still seeing my counsellor because the therapy hasn't ended yet.
Finally, a little explanation regarding the resignation letter. I know that the US has different laws compared to my country. So in my country, we need to sign an employment letter upon being hired. And most companies will require you to submit a 1-month notice when you resign. Similarly, if the company terminates you, they'll give you a 1-month notice as well. If you stop showing up to work, it's considered a breach of the contract and you will not receive your salary for that month (And of course, you could actually just quit after receiving your salary and that's what some people do here, but you might get blacklisted by the industry you're in).
