I had to submit applications at multiple locations for a specific role at a company that I wanted to work for. Given the nature of the job I needed to cast a wide net and apply to as many locations as possible because it was unlikely I’d even get a response let alone get the job I wanted. Tell me why these smug out of touch boomer executives thought it was a neat and quirky idea to have applicants submit pre recorded interview questions for EACH application.
These assholes have the audacity to make me dance around like a monkey for 3 minutes per question. Do you have any idea how hard it is to talk for that long without someone to engage in a dialogue with? Not only that but I have to submit these responses for EVERY application even though it’s the same company and the the same position and the same exact questions each time. Why can’t they just take my responses from the last application I submitted? How fucking hard is that? I bet some executive is having a watch party to look at all the interview videos getting a huge kick out of how awkward they are.
I already have a hard time with interview anxiety, but it’s amplified 10x when I know I’m being recorded. And you know the worst part? They’re probably not even gonna see those interviews. You think some underpaid and apathetic HR employee is gonna sit through each one? Not a chance. But nobody is gonna challenge these companies on their bullshit so I guess we don’t have a choice
