Hello everyone I've followed this subreddit for quite sometime and I have a question for all of you. Yesterday I fell into a trench at work and hurt my back. Now I live in Canada and I've done my paper work. I've reported the injury to OH&S and I've filed a workers comp injury report. Now my supervisor has said to me that my boss doesn't want me to use the companies insurance for a “previously existing back injury” which there was none. I was never going to in the first place. I only asked my supervisor if I could put his name down because it was required. What I'm wondering is why would they claim I have “previously existing back injuries”. My supervisor has told me it was because my first week I “complained” my back was hurting after a few shifts. I'm being trained to be a pipe layer and I've never done this work before I lift with my legs and I've never injured my back previous to this. What I did say was that having to be bent over and working closer to the ground makes my back sore and it hurts. I was twisting wrenches every day and moving lots of different kinds of job materials around. Wood, metal bars, tools etc I am 6'4 and I've dealt with this problem all my life. I'm not sure what it is but I just feel like something isn't right here. Any answers are much appreciated thank you all and have a great day.
TL;DR : Hurt my back on the job and my supervisor and employer are trying to tell me I have previously existing back injuries which I do not. They do not want me to use the company insurance to get it covered even though I wasn't going too in the first place.
