I wasn't supposed to be in until like, 9 or 10am so I'm asleep when I miss a call from my supervisor. I wake up to a missed call and like 1 or 2 texts asking if I can come in earlier because another coworker (that was scheduled to open with my supervisor) had to go to another location that was short staffed.
Obviously, I didn't go in early but I texted back apologizing for missing the call saying I was asleep and my phone is on silent. Cool. Go into work on time.
Get called into big boss's office and basically get scolded for not answering my phone and being “accessible” enough in case a shift needs covered.
I was new and only a part-time employee and at the time I felt really bad but when I told my husband, he was dumbfounded and said that's the stupidest shit they could ever complain about.
Then I thought about it and he's fucking right! You have nothing else to reprimand me for so I get lectured for missing a phone call for a shift that I'm not even scheduled for! It's not my fault my manager told the other location we could spare an employee without having coverage in place. It's not my fault for having a life outside of work and silencing my cell phone WHEN I'M SLEEPING. Am I supposed to keep my phone on loud and just wake up at 5am everyday JUST IN CASE they call me at 6 asking me to cover someone?? Like what kind of fucking bullshit is that?
