Let me explain and I apologize for the very long post.
I work for a very large retail chain that is know all throughout the world and I have been there for 4 1/2 years and I always have had a perfect record so to speak. I am always on time, I come in when called in, I pulled 16 hours shift, I do as ask and then some. I am essentially a golden employee but with some flaws as I am only human.
I only got the job because I needed something as I was looking for work in my job field (personal support worker or PSW for short) but at the time the field was extremely competitive and since I live in a small town and couldn't drive my options where limited and unfortunately moving was and still is not a option.
So this store hired a jerk in his 60s 6iah months ago and within his first week pissed off the whole backroom team. He is sexist, racist, homophobic, a narcissist and a chronic liar. He harasses degrades and discriminates female staff (me included) on the team and other teams. He treats both male and female (mostly female) stuff like we are dumb and don't know how to do our jobs and that he knows how to do our job and he is better then anyone. He attracts stupid minded people because they will believe whatever he says. He has call me and my fellow backroom ladies nothing but a bunch of stupid broads, that the backroom would get more done without us ladies and that a lady place it at home not working. He is power train but refused to use it, only willing to load freight from the truck to the flex and stock shelves. He does this with minimal effort and the team has to clean up after him all the time. He constantly leaves anywhere between 5-15 mins early every shift it just so much.
We have reported this to all forms of management including the store manager, he had a investigation against him within his first two months and where I leave, a employer can fire someone within their first three months with no reason needed but my place of work has essentially a no firing unless a crime has been committed policy. So essentially nothing has been do and management is just ignoring all of the complaints that has gone in.
So over the weekend jerk and a fellow backroom teammate (this teammate is female but stupid but loves to cause problems as she lives for the chaos) were stocking a area with a skid since the store was now closed. Jerk make a comment to chaos about not hitting him with a box and she brought it down from the skid and she ask why would she do that and I said because he is a a**hole.
This is how it went
Chaos looked at jerk and said “did you heard what she said”
Jerk “what did you say?”
Me “I called you a a**hole”
Jerk walks to me and said “words can get you in
trouble”
Me “and yet yours has not”
And then jerk made a comment about having my job. I did report this to management because it was technically unprovoked and I wanted to try and cover my ass
I got written up today because management took jerk words over mine because jerk claim it happen while the store was open and customers heard me. Which is not true but at least I am finally going on nights for my team after asking for a month but it's only temporary to see how well I work .
I make minimum wage and work my ass off and management values a sexist, racist homophobic narcissist that harasses discriminates and degrades fellow female and male teammates then someone who works their butt off for years.
What management doesn't know is that I have applied for a job in the PSW field as a new care home has been built to merge two buildings into one and need more staff since the building is bigger and will hold more residences. I have the interview this Friday for a night shift position and I truly hope I get it because I'm tired of this nonsense. I just turn 29 and I'm done. Now I just need to do something about my landlord who treats me the same as the jerk
