I have been working at a start up for about a year and a half now. I really enjoy the company and the mission (sustainability). But omg I can’t take it.
Super long story short: my department head has absolutely no experience in our field. She’s really good at corporate bs though, even though the rest of the execs hate her. She’s the kind that you’ll ask a question and her answer will be five minutes long and sounds great but it never answers your actual question.
My boss is great, I really like her. I’ve learned a lot from her. She’s coordinated a lot of really sweet surprises for me in the past year. The issue isn’t her though. It’s mainly the department head and the pay.
I have asked for a raise three times and every time, I’ve been told not until they finish xyz. They say that’ll be the end of May. But I know them. Realistically? Itll be May 2023. So, I went and got another job offer. It’s a promotion, and $12k higher than where I currently am.
I am so terrified of talking to my boss about it, and I hate that so much. Corporate world really got me in its clutches
