I have to find coverage.. but that isn’t my job

I'm 17. I work at a fast food (ish) company. Tomorrow is my prom night. I took the day off a week ago. It's the company policy that the employee has to find coverage. I fucking hate it, because my plans with another coworker fell through and I'm scrambling to message all my other (teenage) coworkers last minute. Thankfully none of them go to my school, otherwise I'd be screwed. Why is it my job to find coverage? Isn't that supposed to be the manager's duty? Oh, and if i can't find coverage and they write me up for it, I'm quitting. Full stop, end of story. I'm quitting anyways, but that would give me a better reason.
