I’ve been working in a full time position for about 6 months now, and let them know a month in advance that I would have to switch from a full-time to a part time position so that I can finish my degree. My co-workers are about half full-time, half part-time. I was told by my manager that it “wasn’t up to them” and they’d check for me. Well, apparently they can’t keep me on because financially it doesn’t make sense. Which is baffling because we all know it takes a ton of money to train a new person. I’d had great performance reviews, and have had essentially every coworker express multiple times that they’re sad to see me go, and I did good work. IN ADDITION, this left me with 3 weeks to find a job to support myself so I could actually get my degree, to the tune of $2 less an hour. I’m so upset. All while my employers are saying they “want to support me in whatever I want to do.”
