My company is a tech support client for a large chain store. Between VPN issues or system issues regarding the virtual desktop or ticketing system failures, I've worked so little on the past 6 weeks that taxes and insurance have eaten my entire paycheck. It's not just me, but around 50 others as well from this program. Our company refuses to lay us off or fire anyone despite repremanding everyone for attendance despite the fact that we can't work if everything is broken. I refuse to quit since I can't get UI in this state if I do, but I'm actively looking for other work. They decided that the provided desktops that we were given were the issue (remote work) and now that we have new ones, no one can log in since they were incorrectly provisioned. I'm hemorrhaging money but refuse to accept anything other than a layoff or finding a new job. It's complete and utter bullshit.
Edit: I attempted to file for underemployment and they denied the claim, stating that the hours were available if my equipment worked, but not disclosing that my equipment was proved by the company itself.
