So, I work as a landscaper. My company has been in a state of collapse for like six months. I think this is the death knell.
The highest paid guy at our company (that isn't an owner) makes $26 bucks an hour. Average pay at our company is about $15 an hour. I make $16.50 and I'm a floating crew lead that does irrigation installation, generally. I'm not great at interviews. So finding another job has been a nightmare. Anyway, I'm sidetracking.
Snow removal usually means I make $19.50 an hour. We've had tons of snow this last week – but no snow removal. I found out why today from my friend who happens to run my crew with me (our company went from being alright to being really, really, shady, so we've all established some pretty solid friendships outside of it because the guys in charge are just terrible people) – turns out the CEO's son (the guy that basically runs everything, because the CEO really only serves a symbolic position as his mental stability is in decline, so he tends to the nursery in the mountains) sold all of our hours to temporary service staffers.
Half the company has already quit because they can't afford to pay any of their bills. This has got to be the death knell. Right? I just needed to get that off my chest because it's just driving me absolutely crazy searching for something else.
Like there's nothing in the labor market that's competitive. And I already cut my budget down to the bone. I'm dying out here.
Sigh.
Anyway. Thanks for reading my rant.
