I was working at Ben Bridge. I had to go through three fucking interviews at this place. I worked five days and in that time saw racial profiling, a back work room filled with toxic positivity and all the old white ladies I worked with were completely unrelatable.
Today we had two black people come in the store and everyone was speculating they must be no good and not to bother showing them jewelry. My bosses accused them of casing the store!
Then an hour later a tall black gentleman came in and everyone made him feel uncomfortable. He asked them why they were treating him differently. My bosses told me not even to help him and don’t open the jewelry case at all. He asked to see some jewelry and I opened the case right away as I would treat anyone. He ended up buying $3,000 worth of diamond jewelry from me. Afterwards they were saying things like he must be up to no good because he paid in cash. Who carries cash around if they aren’t selling drugs!
I got back from lunch, and I put my keys in the safe and grabbed my things and left. Good riddance.
Cheers to everyone tonight. Love this subreddit and the community.
