Wednesday I got into a brutal car accident while on the clock for a housekeeping company. My captain was driving, and some idiot hit a semi and then swerved into our lane and we hit him going 70 with no time to stop. My captain and I are lucky to have made it out of the car alive and with minor injuries but nothing broken, but both of us extremely mentally shaken. We were not at fault.
We called the office immediately after the crash to tell them what happened since we were on the clock. They didn’t pick up or call us back until 30 minutes later after a DIFFERENT associate called the office and told them to call us. They immediately asked about the work equipment (a vacuum and some rags and cleaning products) after a quick ‘are you alright?’. I got a text the next morning asking why I hadn’t gotten up before 7am and called to let them know I wouldn’t be coming in the next day from the same assistant manager who we talked to the day before. When I told them I assumed they knew I couldn’t move because of how much pain I was in, I got hit with “I would assume that was the plan but I don't know how you're feeling, so just make sure to follow callout policy so we can plan accordingly. Thanks and take care!” Then why did you text me? We almost died!
But at least our manager gets to be on a fun three day vacation to see the birth of her cat’s babies. I’m looking for new jobs while I’m medical leave.
