I may not be able to work my dream job because I failed a drug test even though I don’t do drugs

I live in Oregon, USA. Where marijuana use is legal. My fiancé smokes pot and he has a VERY high tolerance. I on the other hand don’t smoke at all because I simply just don’t want to be addicted to anything and don’t see the pleasure you get out of it. We live in a 23ft trailer in tight corners where I’m easily exposed to a contact high. I went to orientation for my new job today. Even though marijuana is legal in my state it’s still in the eyes of the federal government illegal and many companies like construction, drivers, or what I will be doing working in the medical field have a no THC policy. Even though I don’t smoke, I tested positive for THC in my urine test at orientation. I told them when I started I could possibly test positive from second hand smoke. I didn’t…

I didn’t think it was an actual thing, but it really is. They said they will give me a week to be away from exposure and if I test positive again they will send me to a lab for more advanced testing. That’s great, but what if I test negative. Or worse, what if people like me take a urine test and test positive but that’s the only test they are allowed so as a result they are automatically fired. The reason why I’m posting in this sub is this is fucking ridiculous the hoops I have to go through and also the wondering if I may or may not have this job in a week from now. I understand the policy, and that they have to do their job and they have rules. But what about people like me who aren’t addicted but get exposed to it? I could potentially lose this job over SOMEONE ELSE smoking. These urine tests are so inaccurate. And it shouldn’t be allowed to base a drug test off urine. It’s so not fair. I love my fiancé, and I don’t mind him smoking. But why should I pay the price and feel like being on my toes wondering if I might lose my job over a contact high? Has anyone else had a similar experience?
