“I need a better answer than “money” to why you want to be a service advisor”

So I currently work as a lot porter at a car dealership and make $12.50/hour. It's a dirt easy job, all I do is put a plastic seat liner and floor mat in the car, fill the washer fluid, then park the car whereever it needs to be parked. Been there for going on 8 months and since I work in the service department, I talk to the service advisors all day and I know they make pretty good money; there is one advisor who made $123k last year, and another supposedly made $160k. Since I've been there, I've asked about becoming an advisor a few times and basically been blown off. Since I've been there, I've asked about becoming an advisor a few times and basically been blown off.

One time I asked my bosses boss and he gave me a copy of the book that he wrote(he used to own a consulting company that consulted with other dealerships, so he wrote a book on how to sell cars, etc.) and told me to read a few chapters, and if I still wanted to be an advisor then come back to him. So I did. He then said to read the entire book, then he would get me in the training program. So I did; took me like 3 days to finish(it was honestly somewhat interesting). OK, cool.

That was like 2 or 3 months ago; haven't heard anything since.

So now I'm kinda over being a porter; I need a challenge, and being a porter ain't doing it.

So I talked to my boss and the title of this thread was his response when I answered hid question about why I wanted to be a service advisor. Now, I did expound on that, saying that I needed more of a challenge, wanted to do more, etc.

But, christ. Why the fuck does anyone do any job?

He also said shit like “oh, some of these customers become like family because we see them year after year, blah blah blah.”

So, yea, probably going to put my 2 weeks in soon. I actually do like where I work, I like most of the people, but the porter thing isn't doing it for me anymore. I was also told that he wouldn't give me a raise “because I can't have a porter making $15 an hour”.
