I'm in the US. I finally heard back from HR. Long story short, I was full time for nearly a year, and went down to part time. They have essentially offered me a brand new position, not even fully created, in more of a leadership and training roll that would bring me back to full time. I'll be picking up some duties from higher ups and leaning into training new hires.
My original starting pay was 48.5K. This was also an entry level position, I had no degree but went through their six week training program and that's what they started me at. I've been here almost a year and a half, and am taking on this leadership roll. They have offered me 4k more than what I was making. Which at first seems decent, except inflation has risen 12% from when I started to today. So really the starting position should be more around 54K. So a leadership roll should be even more than that, right?
They've really worked hard to get me the things I need (entire office has had to come back, but I live above 40 mins away and share a car with my partner, so they secured 100% remote for me). I don't want to push too hard, as I've already put my notice at my second job in preparation to come back full time, but I feel like 4k in pay isn't enough for a brand new position that I'll be leading going forward.
How do I professionally counter an offer? What types of things do I bring up? How much higher should I ask for? I was honestly hoping for like 58K to 62K, that seemed pretty realistic. But talking to others that are actual supervisors, even they don't make that much. I'm not sure what to do here, push back or just take the offer.
