First let me tell you about this Thing called Berufsgenossenschaft (BG) we have in Germany.
It's a mandatory insurance paid by the company. If you have an incident at work or longterm damage the BG pays for healthcare, rehab and even retraining for another job. But since they don't want to pay for situations that are man-made they even are in charge of safety regulations and to random safety checks. The fee which the company has to pay depends on the amount of incidents and such that happen.
So here is the situation. A few weeks ago I slipped at work and fell on my left arm. It hurt but was okay but since I already have health issues with it later that day after work it really started hurting. So next day I called in sick cause I wasn't able to lift heavy stuff (I work as a carpenter) and went to the doctor to get a check up.
A few days later my boss called me in his office. He didn't even ask how I was but told me right away that he wasn't ok with me telling the doctor it happened at work because now he has to pay more and has paperwork to do. I told him that if I have longterm damage cause of my backstory with my arm and my insurance would hear it happened at work they wouldn't pay for my treatment and the BG wouldn't pay either cause they only do if you tell them right away what happened. He didn't wanted to hear it and told me again that it was not ok.
The more I think about shit like this the more I realize how much I get pushed towards the antiworkcommunity and not because I hate work but because my boss and my supervisors are the reason I don't want to go there.
I promised my self to start my own business and I would pay good wages, have a 4 day work week and would do everything to let my employees know they don't have to think twice about stuff like that.
