I work for a dealership group, i work for the #1 dealership within the company and #2 dealership in the nation in that brand. Two of our salespeople are making over $300k YTD. No sales people make under $55k YTD. I myself plan to go into sales at this dealership when an assistant position comes about.
I bring home 2100 dollars a month if i don’t work overtime. Average rent around me is 1150 for a one bedroom in a decent neighborhood. 800-900 in a bad neighborhood. Gas is 4 dollars. Groceries cost hella money.
The other day one of the top salesmen joked about how he lost $14k last weekend sports betting. But was laughing, while i was just a few feet away thinking how i wish i had 14k to blow. One of my buddies who is a porter been here for a few years and make $14 dollars. I’ve been here 6 months and make $16 dollars.
The only reason i haven’t left is because this dealership is the dealership to be at when it comes to sales. It’s no broke sales person here, the location is Golden. The people are even better it’s like a family.
So i plan on emailing the owners and general managers. I’m going to email them starting with a break down of inflation, then the price of rent within 20 miles of the dealership, then the average car payment since the salespeople always try to get employees into cars. Etc etc. If you have a suggestion on what else i should add please don’t hesitate.
I think every hourly employee should be paid at least $20 an hour. Let’s see what we can do… wish me luck
