I work in fintech and make decent money currently. I found a better role with a 50% raise and title bump.
I put in my 2 weeks last week and I have been getting bombarded with more work than I have ever received. my manager is out on paternity leave and he's excellent but his superiors are not so much. They're constantly assigning me tasks left and right. things that don't even pertain to me. I did the first few tasks, but then I realized why? What are they going to do? Fire me? I thought about not burning bridges but I don't even care at this point. Not a bridge I want to keep. HR also tried to guilt-trip me about why I'm leaving after they were “so nice to me during my medical leave”, which yes they were. They were very accommodating but since when is it a privilege to be decent to me while I have life-saving surgery? Not to mention, I saw a job req for my position while I was out on medical leave.
