i'm just coasting for a few weeks to give them the message 'hey, i'm not actually into this' before dropping the bomb. i work retail and every day, the bullshit increases. today, a manager talked to us (the warehouse crew) about the company's plans for the end of summer. as things are now, we receive one truck in the morning and, on bad days, sometimes a second in the afternoon. the truck is a total bitch to get through, not only because of the work but because of the grating pressure from our manager to get it done as fast as possible or, ideally, faster. we do have to work fast, with a time limit since we can't keep the truck driver waiting around all day while we do this.
what the company is now proposing is for there to be a permanent trailer on the grounds so that drivers could just unload and leave, at which point we'd start processing the delivery. obviously, this is not out of consideration for the drivers, it's so that we can receive even larger shipments and multiple shipments a day without having to worry about fitting it all in the warehouse and working with a short time frame. this way, we can unload shipments all day long and not just for a few hours in the morning! it's actually hilarious for them to think i'm going to be doing that. they even told us 'guys, please pull through, we'd need three people to replace just one of you!'
this is a part time, minimum wage job. i make $250 – $300 a week. i only wanted the job as a reason to get out of the house in the winter, i'm not doing this shit.
