A few weeks ago, I quit my garbage front desk job and officially became a software engineer. I get treated with respect, no more micromanagement, I get to work from home (hybrid eventually), I’m trusted to complete my work, I get free health insurance. It’s a different world.
I enrolled in a bootcamp 8 months ago and it took a while to finally pass an interview and get an offer. I’m 26 and I fell into the useless degree trap. I finished college with a bachelors in psychology. I felt that I would be a desirable hire but realized nobody wanted me unless I completed grad school or a phd. I didn’t want to sink more money or time into something that already failed me though.
Just posting because I’m happy since I always hated working, but finally, for the first time, I’m happy.
