So my Boss bought the small company I worked at last year in June. Ever since then the Job went to crap. Our job is the type of job that gets busy during the holiday. We got into it several times and he wrote me up. but here is the thing. he didn't actually give it to me for three weeks. He left my write-up on his desk with my name on it from Dec 21st to January 10th.
When I knew I needed to quit was when he cut my hours to 10 hrs a week. When enough employees quit he had to raise my pay to over 20 dollars an hour to keep me. Now after the busiest time of the year, he tells me in a text message that he couldn't afford me but refused to lay me off. So I go in and work my five hr shift. I clock out and that is when my boss hands me the letter.
I ask what this is and he just tells me to read it at home. I say no because I don't work off the clock and put it back on his desk telling him I'll read it tomorrow for my other five-hour shift. He snapped. He did everything from pointing the camera he recently put in his office, telling me he has me on camera refusing to take it. He tells me to clock back in and take it or not to come in the next day. Eventually, I just head out, he tells me he will text me if I work the next day. he didn't I just go in because I now know, a day won't go by without this dude harassing me.
I write a three-page two weeks notice. I go into the next day even though he never texted me if I should or not. Not even clocked in yet he walks over to me and tells me I'm not allowed to talk to customers or be on the register. I can't even answer phones. Just receiving packages is the only thing left for me to do, whatever he is paying me. I give him my two weeks notice and he gives me my write. Doesn't get me to sign it or anything, it also doesn't actually tell me what I did you get it. Just to change my behavior. There is more drama but that's most of my final days, sorry for the length.
I went back there yesterday after being a month away. Every employee has quit by now and it's only the owner and his kid. I was thinking it would be fun to see him so tired having to work every day of the week, after all, he put the crew through. It was not, the store is just so sad. I would say the best definition would be what I would imagine purgatory is like. I didn't even see the owner but some random friend of his came out in pajamas and his gut sticking out his shirt to help me. My girlfriend and I just walked out in a quiet haze haha.
Sometimes a Boss is so bad that they will never see them as the problem and now he lost 8 employees in 8 months.
