After 6 years of empty promises I quit, with basically no plan, and a year later my only regret is not doing it sooner.
I'm living 100% off of gig apps, etsy and ebay and I haven't missed any major payments.
The independent contractor bullshit is a scam, but the complete flexibility of app based employment is the future in my opinion. Every job should be like doordash, broken up into small shifts and offered to anyone with the qualifications. Anyone could reject or accept any job or any shift, and if employers couldn't get anyone to fill the shift, they have to offer more money.
