I worked for this place for 8 years and gave EVERYTHING for this company. I came in early, stayed late, I even missed my sons first play because they needed me to stay late.
One week we had our interstate colleagues visit us. The company put us all up in this fancy hotel for a week so we could bond and talk about company growth. I got on really well with one guy, we hung out and had fun and shared most of our meals together.
The conference ended and we all went back to normal. The next Monday at work we had our usual team meeting. 15 of us there. My manager started by saying “I’m sorry we have to start this meeting off with a negative but some of you were quite rude during the conference and made faces toward the CEO when he asked you about your seating positions”
He then made it clear that because the CEO had “made faces” towards us we should have changed our seating positions because the CEO wanted everyone to interact with each other.
Apparently I should have been spending equal time with each colleague for each meal.
He chose to share this in a team meeting rather than share it with me privately.
I walked out the meeting and instantly resigned.
