Antiwork

I recently helped my friend’s family move into a small house in a mediocre neighbourhood that costs them $2800 a month to rent. I make $2400 a month after taxes working full-time in construction…

Facts like this truly disturb me and bring me down because it constantly reminds me that even after working full-time, if I was not living with my dad right now, I would be homeless or permanently stuck living paycheque to paycheque to for the rest of my life. It’s even worse when considering that the average home buyer a few decades back could pay off a house after 3 years of labour while the only way I could reasonably afford that mediocre house was if I was making a six figure income, and that people like Jeff Bezos are only using their money to fuel their wild lifestyles and bust unions. I really hope a huge event happens that forces the economy to start over and bring back the middle class.
