I resigned today and I have mixed feelings

The department I work with, are all good people. My manager and my coworkers are good humans and were there for me when I needed help, as I was there for them. My boss, the person who hired me retired, and another person inherited our department. This guy is cheap, he loves to be the center of attention, and likes to assert his dominance whenever possible. As I wanted to impress my first boss (and my managers boss) the one who hired me I went above and beyond to make sure to learn everything as quickly as possible to make sure I help produce work. I kept documentation of everything I did so I could show to my boss the amount of work I produced for the company.

After my boss retired, and new boss took over all of that I had worked towards became useless.

I am the most productive employee in the department, whenever someone needed something to be done, rushed, they all came to me even people from outside our department.

After I finish my tasks, I like to chill out on my phone as I wait for new stuff to come up or for people to reply to my emails… This new boss saw me on the phone, came up behind me and very loudly asked what I was doing…he looked at his watch and said shouldn't I be working right now… I was kinda surprised since we never formally introduced ourselves or even talked before. Note, I seen him pull people aside into his office before and close his door so I know he can be professional about it.

His first conversation with me was to embarrass me in front of my colleagues about being on my phone after I had finished every task I had.

At that moment I realized this person didn't have a single clue on how much work I did for our company, or anything about my work ethics, performance etc.

How could I trust my future to this person? I just accepted a job offer with much better salary, and incredible benefit packages that will allow me to put money on side to buy my own place in future.

Turns out my experiences and knowledge are worth alot more than I personally believed.

Best of all, this new job is all remote ๐Ÿ™‚

Tl tr you are worth more than you think, please know your strengths and make sure to negotiate new positions accordingly!
