hey r/antiwork
just looking for other peoples experiences and advice.
I started a new job about a year ago and within the first few months an opportunity came up to do a part time course for a year with an external education provider. It sounded interesting so i was keen to do it. So I talked to management an they said i could do it provided i sign a training agreement. the agreement states that i must stay for 6 months after i have completed the course and they would pay for the one day of training every month for a year which is on a Friday. A day I would normally be working. At the time i was like sweet I did not think i was going anywhere and I get a paid day off to go study.
7 months later i have nearly finished the course which i do enjoy doing and beats being at work for the day. but i now want to leave the company as i am overworked, tired, stressed out just simply had enough.
i am looking to go rural live a simpler slower life and with lower costs so i can work less.
I signed the contract and i am happy to pay for the days off with my holiday pay? Is there anyway they can legally make me stay? They are not a bad company i was thinking i could explain my situation and come to an agreement.
Anyone else had experience with this? Thank you
note: the course was free subsidise by my government
