This was years ago but I still feel guilty even though I probably shouldn't. I worked as an unpaid intern for about 6 months, I was helped find the job by someone hired by the mental hospital I lived in so I think that work place just exploited me like no tomorrow. I wasn't paid, not even for commute, I was left alone jn the store while they literally had a pizza party in the back, expected long hours despite the fact they knew I was mentally ill AND unpaid. It was the whole situation of “maybe I guess we'll hire you knew day” bullshit. Anyways I stole about 30 USD from the register and got caught the day after and fired after having an awkward talk with management. I was made to pay back the like 15 bucks (for some reason they never found out about the rest) and then left, no police or anything so that's nice.
I still can't get over how shitty they treated an underage, mentally ill worker. Fuckers didn't pay me despite me having 8+ hours 4 days a week, this was a chain btw they have hundreds of stores in the country. Honestly just hope someone will tell me Im not a horrible person for doing what I did
