I view a job as a means to an end; nothing more nothing less. Tired of having to figure out a “career” to define me

I chose to work in IT not because I like it or that I want a career in it- I chose it because there are plentiful openings; it pays decent; and it isn’t super strenuous. My long term goals have nothing to do with my job. My goals are to write a book, travel, own some sort of property so I have shelter, and maybe retire. I do those things I die happy. My job is a means to an end. Your life should be more than some stupid ass career. This is how they keep people enslaved in jobs they hate.
