There are a lot of homeless people where I work. I find a lot of needles in the parking lot, piles of human feces, trash bags torn open and tossed around the dumpsters, etc.
I have always been respectful, but diligent about asking homeless people to leave. On multiple occasions I've been physically confronted or all out assaulted. I had asked for security guard to be brought on site multiple times, and after 8 months they finally hired a company.
Unfortunately, they went with the cheapest company they could find. The 21-year-old kid they got on this job shows up hours late, disappears throughout the day, and never conducts himself professionally. Honestly, I don't even think they're really training him.
Today, an hour and a half after I arrived, (and security should have arrived as well) I called the security guard to let him know that there was a camp growing in our parking garage. He said he was driving to work and he'll be there soon. Well, the homeless people heard me and got pissed off. Three of them cornered me and started screaming at me. One of them pushed me, which is when I pulled out my can of Mace.
I've learned a long time ago, you never back down from them. They'll just walk all over you. So when I stood my ground with the mace, they eventually backed off.
The security guard didn't arrive for another hour after that.
I'm really hating this job right now…
