I’m 31 weeks pregnant and usually WFM full time but yesterday we had a mandatory day in office. I got up to get a cup of coffee and was told by no less than 4 men (in my male dominated industry) ‘you can’t have coffee you’re pregnant.’ I explained the limit of caffeine mg to the first, ignored the 2nd, snapped at the 3rd, ‘the fuck I can’t’ and asked the fourth if they knew from personal experience.
I let them know yesterday would be my last day in office post baby and honestly hope HR contacts me about my bad attitude so I can explain how 4 different men thought they could tell a 31 week pregnant woman what she can and can’t do with her own body. It’d be different if they ASKED or said something like ‘I didn’t know you could have caffeine’ but no. Just the general outrage that I was doing something that, in their limited knowledge of pregnancy, wasn’t ‘allowed’. At least two of them don’t even have children so therefore haven’t had the experience of a pregnant SO. Just the AUDACITY.
Edit: before the comments roll in, per multiple doctors and medical research done by professionals, ONE CUP OF COFFEE IS FINE. You’re allowed roughly 200 mg of caffeine, depending on your size.
