I am a substitute teacher. I work for a county in the south. I came in today and got right to work. Well, as it is, the teacher I am subbing for has 2 back to back planning periods at the end of the day.

I was happy, thought I may get out a little early.

Well, my last class came to an end and I went to the office to check out.

I was told “we own you until the final bell rings.” When I asked what they had for me to do, they said nothing. That I am expected to sit quietly in the work room until the bell rings.

I pointed out that it was pointless for me to do that. They responded “we pay you. You do as we say.”

Like it get it. I work for you. But, I don't have to. I choose my subbing jobs. And things like this do not make me want to come back to this school.
