I was told taking a remote week out of state is basically a “vacation”. So I took the week off instead.

I asked my manager if it would be cool to work 2 extra days remotely (we're in the office only 2 days a week, remote other 3 days) so that I could visit my S.O., who lives out of state, for our anniversary, and just work remotely from there for a week.
