My good friend of a couple years brother runs a nail shop in Louisiana near where I live. Two nights ago he texted the group chat saying his brother needed receptionist and he was paying 10-12 an hour. I like an idiot was prepared to work at 8 am before discussing pay with the owner TJ. I was told it would be reception work mainly customer focused with light cleaning involved. So I show up at 8 am ready to work a couple hours. The day runs until 7:30 during the day I’m told if I do a good job all the nail techs will tip me a 5$ minimum. None do besides my friend. I go home and message my friend about pay which he says will happen on Tuesdays. I asked how much I made today he texts the boss and he gets a response of 70$ for training today! I say it’s outrageous I was told 10-12 by my friend and I worked 10 hours and 30 mins! He says the owner his brother is racist against white people and I need to work harder to prove myself to make 100$ a day and plus I’m not paying taxes none of the workers do. I’m feeling awfully vindictive and I will be going there to work tomorrow cause I truly have no other options currently is there any leverage I have the situation to report the shop or his brother?

I was told I would make a minimum of 10$ hourly worked 10 hours and 30 minutes and made under minimum wage(70$)Then was told boss doesn’t pay white people 10$ an hour starting and to be happy because none of the workers pay taxes. Any advice for revenge/leverage I’m in a rough spot and need the money but hate being looked down upon!
Edit: I also heard talks of people working there unlicensed. I will gather information until I quit! Any ideas on how to report unlicensed nail work
I know it’s taken very serious!
