I joined this company at the beginning of the pandemic and never saw their offices. I was used to working mostly remote even before and my contract stated that they can't force me to work in a office full time anyway. They never said that they want us to be back full time, but they're trying to bribe us with food, drinks and “wellbeing events” to come at least one day per week.
I lead a team of 5 employees and we never saw each other so we decided to come to the office once to meet in person. So I step in in the office and I'm hit with a loud open space office with bright colored walls and superheroes paintings. I pick a seat and I'm surprised by how low the desk is. No height adjustment either. The chair was incredibly tiny and unconformable. The whole setup reminded me of a kindergarten because everything is tiny and superhero themed with bright colors and there are people constantly running around and screaming.
I came home with a crushing headache and I woke up today with a stiff back because of that stupid chair so I decided to take the remaining 5 sick days from last year beginning today.
I will never go back to any office ever again and next time I will organize lunch or dinner events with the team in a place more suitable for professional adults.
