I’m in IT. In the entire IT department there’s 16. That includes business analysts, developers, and what I do “help desk extroidinair”. Here’s the thing. There are only two other’s like me. If we collectively decided to quit, the business would be at an absolute standstill. Nothing would get done. Period. We are support for the entire company.
The CFO’s keyboard stopped working? I guess the sys admin who’s trying to troubleshoot the phone system so that we’re in compliance about call recording since we’ve picked up Medicare is going to have to stop doing that and drive across town to deliver a keyboard and mouse.
You could rehire for that. Simple. But when several people’s VPN isn’t working bc they weren’t diligent about changing their password and you have to walk them through the steps of somehow getting connected to the VPN so their at home computer is connected to the network enough that it recognizes the password they’ve been using in the office.
You can’t hire that off the street. So what if the three of us said “double my pay or I quit”
“Give us tens of thousands or lose millions”?
Idk if I have the balls to facilitate this with my coworkers but we could milk the company for so much more than they’re paying. They do not realize our value.
Can you make a union with 3 people?
