Antiwork

I work in HR and some of the things that are said disgust me.

I want to first say, nothing that is said is illegal, racist, homophobic, etc. However, sometimes my coworkers comments are super harsh. For example, when talking about someone who wanted to work from home because she didn’t have childcare, someone on my team said “remote work isn’t babysitting.” And while I get that, everyone has a job to do, I know that people can still work with their kids playing around. Or, when employees want to transfer, our policy usually stops that. But then they wonder why employees leave instead! I chose HR because I wanted to make a difference but it’s disheartening to hear that not everyone cares about our employees (but they value the company too much). I’m going to keep climbing up the HR ladder and maybe eventually I can make some sort of change.
