Coworkers. Supervisors. Managers. Manager’s Managers. All of them harassed me. Entire meetings of upper managers were called on “what to do” about me. My teammate outed me to my coworkers and my boss in an email. My therapist told me straight up, “trans people don’t last at Citibank. They get managed right out the door”
That’s not even getting into the nauseating nature of my call center customer service job. It was a disturbingly regular occurrence to see agents rolled out in stretchers because they collapsed from the stress. I saw an ambulance out front just about every day.
I wanted to quit sooner than I did. So much sooner. But I couldn’t. No other job in the area would pay for my hormones. I hated my job so much. But I couldn’t quit. So I turned to drugs to cope.
This company praises itself as “the most LGBT-friendly workplace in the world”. I never saw a trans person get promoted once—only fired.
They were a primary funder of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
These people don’t care about you. I can guarantee that.
Don’t listen to their lies. Go on strike and hit the streets.
