I’m an accountant (exciting, I know) and I’m miserable! But I get paid well.
I’ve been working full time out of college, your typical 8-5, for about three years now.
My coworker – on the same reporting level (NOT MY BOSS) – constantly acts as though he’s my boss. After all, he’s 50 and is still working entry level positions… so he’s far wiser than I. The other day he asked me why I wasn’t wearing makeup. He’s also informed me that “when” he becomes my boss, he is going to take my work and give me his.
My boss is incompetent. He moves slower than a snail and has no clue as to what I do. He can’t figure out a basic excel sheet. Upper management knows, yet they don’t do anything about it.
I have a long list of inappropriate things I’ve been told from them, but I know HR won’t do anything about it.
I’ve applied for so many jobs but it seems like the “abundance” of workplaces only want to hire you if you’re willing to take an income that would leave you in poverty. A Fortune 500 company rejected me because “you’re too expensive” when my asking was 65k.
I’m kind of ready to just quit and be jobless. I don’t know.
