I’m a former Disney World employee. I was “let go” because I refused to be sick and near make-a-wish children.

This happened in 2015, so a long time before the pandemic and I realize things have changed- but as someone who truly loved the company up until then, that’s what showed me the company didn’t care about anything besides money. I’m keeping the details general, but I was an intern who had strep throat. I had “points” against me for calling out for this, and was told if I didn’t come in I’d have enough points against me that they’d have to let me go. I told them I was still contagious and I couldn’t as I worked directly with make a wish children. They said that didn’t change the point system. It really made me wake up and realize these companies don’t care.
