This happened in 2015, so a long time before the pandemic and I realize things have changed- but as someone who truly loved the company up until then, that’s what showed me the company didn’t care about anything besides money.
I’m keeping the details general, but I was an intern who had strep throat. I had “points” against me for calling out for this, and was told if I didn’t come in I’d have enough points against me that they’d have to let me go.
I told them I was still contagious and I couldn’t as I worked directly with make a wish children. They said that didn’t change the point system.
This was a call-in call out service so I wasn’t talking directly to my bosses. I actually never got to see them again as once I officially had enough points against me I was given 24 hours to move out of my (Disney property) apartment. While I was sick with strep throat.
It really made me wake up and realize these companies don’t care.
