As stated above. I had a meeting with the Executive Director this afternoon re: A federally funded grant that would go towards funding a program/service that supports “the social, economic, and environmental well-being of communities” ([canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/news/2022/02/backgrounder-canada-service-corps—2022-call-for-proposals.html])
I would think that trying to support youth that are being taken advantage of in minimum wage positions to advocate for themselves is promoting the social and economic wellbeing of the community.
To me, this screams ‘we’re unwilling to talk about the hard stuff, lets keep the content light’ and I’m getting tired of it. I joined up with the nonprofit because I thought they’d be willing to advocate for the change that’s needed and I’m sad that they won’t allow this.
