So there's this person that owns a growing business and is is looking to grow his sales team, he says he does not believe in interviews but several calls over a couple of weeks. Weird but alright, I'll play.
We spoke last week things seem nice, he's explaining the growth of his company what I'd be doing etc. Tells me he likes what I'm telling him he'll text me following Monday to set up a meeting in the week. He does so, we set up for today afternoon.
Time rolls in I don't get a call, a while later, I text him asking if everything is alright, “sorry bud I'm running late, might have to reschedule for another day, will let you know to set it up” fine enough, we all get caught up”.
Couple hours roll by, “hey call you in 1 min”, by this time I had logged off work and I'm out running errands, I text him “hey, could we wait 15-20min? I'm in the subway and the connection might cut out”
He replies “no, that won't work out for me I was planning to be done by x hour. I thought we had this set up”, I try to be accommodating and say well, at the next stop is a cafe I could get off there and we could talk”, he says “no that's going to be too loud and distracting, call you tomorrow 4pm”
Now I'm annoyed if he feels like he can just set a time without even asking. I just reply “sorry, I'm unavailable at that time, I can be reached next Monday or Tuesday between 4 and 5pm feel free to call if that works for you.”
I'm not even working for you, I understand you have short time frames to work with but don't expect me to jump when you say so.
Depending on how things go I might turn him down, he likes my profile and what I've done, however, sales are not really my thing, I'm more of a logistics guy.
I am actively looking to change jobs but this sounds like a red flag to me. Maybe I'm overthinking things, maybe he's just having an off day, but I've been around the block several times and I'm done dealing with people's bulshit.
