My company is hiring someone for the same position I currently have. There are a couple of others who hold the same job title/description as I do. The salary range listed on the job posting is almost 10K higher than my salary at the lowest end, 20K higher at the highest end. I am fairly sure everyone else who holds the same role is being paid within that range. I've been at this company longer than anyone else in my department and I can't discern any particularly sizeable gaps in prior experience or qualifications that would account for my salary being so much lower.
This isn't the first time this has happened. I raised this issue before when they were hiring and I noticed I was paid lower. Except when I did that I was just retaliated against and told I had to “trust” my manager wouldn't be discriminatory (thought I'd note I am the only Black person on my level at this company/within this role.)
We don't have HR and there really isn't anyone in the company to tell about this so I thought I'd post here to get it off my chest (other note: I know the EEOC exists)
