Some gems from the part-time job I’ll be fired from in about 3 days: “if you wanna work here you need to make this place your highest priority”, a manager reading a foreign shipments labeling “you know what that means? It’s French for fuck joe Biden!”, “I’m not racist it’s just true” says the duck dynasty lookalike, a damn deadbolt on the women’s bathroom door due to grown men going in there and shitting all over the place, signs on every door stating mask requirements no one follows and those who do are taunted for it. Name calling and racially/sexually charged commentary is rampant and abusive dialogue is the standard. And to top off my less than three month stint working for a excessively wealthy ltl shipping company that didn’t pay taxes last year, received federal incentives and has at most paid 6% taxes on their profits in the past 12 years: they promoted a guy that tore up two shipments a day, then told me this morning “we’re short staffed and need people who are here everyday, you need to let us know you the time you need off 2-3 weeks ahead of time (even though we’ll call you at 2 am if there isn’t enough work) now let me escort you out of here so I can find somebody to replace you.” I was laughing the whole damn time. The real kicker of all this is a card sitting at one of the dispatchers desk written by the boomer that trained me: “it’s been such a great pleasure working under you, I haven’t had the opportunity to work directly with you blah blah blah” bootlicking garbage.
